Tell of His Faithfulness

Scripture passage — Deuteronomy 11:1-7

Deuteronomy 11 speaks to all the wonders of God we have experienced. It reminds us of all the ways we have seen God working through difficult circumstances. It recalls that we have truly experienced God’s faithfulness in our lives. It bears witness to the miraculous way that God has saved us and rescued us from certain destruction.

But what is the big point this passage makes about all the great things God has done for us? Our children have not seen it. “Remember today that your children were not the ones who saw and experienced the discipline of the Lord your God: his majesty, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm” (Deuteronomy 11:2).

Our children have not yet experienced God’s faithfulness like we have. They may still be too young or naive to have seen God’s hand at work through the ups and downs of life. But you have. “But it was your own eyes that saw all these great things the Lord has done” (Deuteronomy 11:7). This passage demands that we tell the story of what God has done.

You know that it was God who has led you and carried you. You know that without God you would never have accomplished what you have. You have seen God’s faithfulness day by day.

We have seen it. We need to tell those who haven't. Explain to your kids how God is at work in your life. Tell them the story of God, tell them your God story. Let them hear from our lips how we cling to his faithfulness every day. Your children need to hear about it from you.

Prayer

Prayer:Lord, don’t let me get so complacent with your blessings that I forget to tell others about you. Keep me mindful that there are those who need me to share about your faithfulness for them to come to know you. In Jesus name, Amen.
